Memberships
Wheel Art offers a membership program for people with previous pottery experiece and want to continue to work with in clay medium, without assistance of an art instructor. We require proof of previous experience and a reference from a former instructor or studio manager. A member works on their own time, at their own pace and on their own projects. As a member you are joining a community of clay enthusiasts dedicated to the art of clay.
To be a member, there is a fiscal monthly fee.
Qualifications for membership
Knowledge of studio practice, procedures, and etiquette
Ability to create functional pottery or sculptural ceramic artwork in a manner where they can be safely handled and fired.
Basic understanding of clay and glaze materials
temperatures they can apporpriately be fired and why
problems if they are fired incorrectly
compatibility of materials
Often, individuals who have taken college-level ceramic courses qualify.
Most adults have the appopriate knowledge and understanding after taking 1, 8-week class with us, or 4+ private one-hour sessions.

Clay Costs
We mix all of our clay in house. Our clay is non-toxic, compatible with our studio house glazes, and will safely handle temperatures up to 2250 Fahrenheit. Only members who with can purchase clay from other suppliers and fire it in our kilns.
Clay is bagged/sold in 5lb. bags. 10% discount is given for 100lbs. or more. 5% discount is given if clay is purchased non-bagged.

Firing fees
Firing Fees, for members, include the use of our studio house glazes. We mix all glazes in house. All cone 6 studio house glazes are non-toxic, compatible with our studio house clays, and will safely handle temperatures up to 2250 Fahrenheit. Only members with permission can purchase glazes from other suppliers and fire them in our kilns.
Non-members can purchase glaze separately through us. (please check rates with us)

If you are interested in becoming a member with us, please fill out the form below with your name, email, phone number, information on your experience working in clay, and the name, email and phone number of a reference to your experience (former instructor or studio manager). We will then schedule a day/time to come in for a meeting/studio tour. When you come for this meeting, you will be required to bring either photo documentation of previous work, or actual pieces.
